IndiView: Weekly Market Update 6/15/26

SpaceX IPO Could Signal a Bigger Public Market Window

The record-setting SpaceX IPO was the lead market story last week. Given the size of the offering and the post-launch performance, it is tough to call this anything other than a success. OpenAI and Anthropic have also started preparing for public offerings, with expected trillion-dollar valuations, which could make this one of the more significant IPO cycles in recent memory.

Large Private Companies May Be Reconsidering the Public Markets

For much of the past decade, many successful companies stayed private longer than they did historically. That trend may not disappear, but the success of SpaceX suggests there is renewed public market appetite for large, innovative companies. If investors show similar interest in OpenAI and Anthropic, other major private companies may begin rethinking their own timelines.

Markets Appear to Be Moving Past Iran-Related Oil Concerns

Oil prices have moved back into a more normalized range, suggesting markets are no longer pricing in a major escalation from the Iran conflict. While geopolitical risks can change quickly, the current message from oil markets is that investors do not expect the conflict to have a material long-term impact on earnings, inflation, or consumer energy costs.

The Next Bear Case May Be Getting Harder to Find

As oil concerns ease, one more potential negative narrative has been reduced. Unemployment remains low, wages are still growing, and corporate earnings expectations for the S&P 500 remain strong. Valuation is still a concern, but valuation alone is often a poor timing tool over the next six to twelve months. This does not mean there is no risk; the more dangerous market risks are often the ones investors do not see coming.

Fed Meeting Commentary May Matter More Than the Rate Decision

The Federal Reserve meets this week under new Chairman Kevin Warsh. We do not expect a rate change, given low unemployment, improving job growth, and still-elevated inflation. However, the commentary afterward will be important. Markets will be watching how Warsh communicates policy direction, how transparent the Fed remains, and how he balances the administration’s preference for lower rates with the Fed’s inflation mandate.

Congratulations to the New York Knicks

We closed this week with congratulations to the New York Knicks on a championship 53 years in the making. New York is a Knicks city, and after waiting more than five decades, the title is worth celebrating.
